About Dr. Said Elyas Karimzad

Dr. Karimzad received his Honours Bachelor of Science and Master of Optometry degree in the United Kingdom. He spent his time in private practice and Croydon University teaching hospital under the supervision of multiple Ophthalmologists in all areas of eye care with a special emphasis in Ocular disease, Glaucoma and Paediatric binocular vision.

Dr. Karimzad successfully completed his equivalency program in Optometry at the University of Waterloo in 2019. He underwent Clinical externships in Primary care with Dr. Alyssa Markowitz in Mississauga and secondary care at Dr. Calottis’ Ophthalmology clinic In Brantford.

In addition to working in private practice, Dr. Karimzad earned an international scholarship and successfully defended his thesis in 2018. He holds a Ph.D. in Life and Health sciences from Aston University UK, with its’ emphasis on retinal and systemic endothelial function. Dr. Karimzad is passionate in all areas of Optometry. He enjoys working with patients of all ages and really values the opportunity to interact with patients in person.

In the future, he hopes to teach in a university setting. His hobbies outside of work include spending time with his family, cooking and playing sports.
